Sparkly Inspiration…

On this gloomy Monday.

Don’t get me wrong it’s warm there’s a humid feel here in London but it’s really grey. I don’t really get the Monday blues as working in retail I rarely get a full weekend to myself but today is proving trying.

I am really loving my daily blog posts, I’m not feeling the pressure if anything it’s making me want to do more and progress with my content. If it makes me happy and if my readers engage with it then happy days. That’s when I’m at my most happiest here on my little place on the Internet.

I’m often inspired at times when I can’t write, like when I’m trying to sleep or in the bath just to name a few. Seeing as Miranda Dickinson’s gorgeous Somewhere Beyond the Sea is released this Thursday I was thinking how can I talk of that more….her magical way of writing is just what I need in my life right now. Saying that I’m not looking forward to the book hangover that will follow.

Miranda has written some gorgeous bookish boyfriends for me over the years and I’m pretty much in love with Kieran. I first met him in her ebook prequel Christmas in St Ives and I just loved everything about him. He’s extremely humorous but he’s also very sensitive which is a gorgeous gift in a guy. Where I’m at right now he has only dipped in and out but his humour and sensitivity are there each time he graces the pages.

Today I woke up feeling exhausted just thinking about what today holds for me…but I’m hoping it ends with a massive smile on my personal journey too.

As I said I was looking at how I could talk more of the sparkly talk ahead of publication day later this week, and then the queen of pure escapism put up a soundCloud clip of one of her songs on her Twitter account.

The song in question is called ‘A million Miles’ I must admit I listened to this snippet a number of times whilst getting ready for work and on my descent to work and I instantly felt inspired and awake. I love how a piece of music with such inspirational words could easily change my outlook on my day.

Granted it’s still not going to be a walk in the park but Miranda’s song made me dream, think and more importantly it inspired me for the better this morning.

Miranda Dickinson thank you for brightening my Monday and for making me reach higher without even realising it.

Today might not be great but there will be greatness in today…. Do let me know how your Monday is going and what books or bookish things you are doing?

Book Review: Random Acts Of Kindness Part Four – New Adventures

Blurb: Welcome to Littlewood, a small town community with a big heart…

Summer is drawing to a close as Huntley Manor is due to have its grand re-opening. Abbie is determined to save the hotel from closure but she has to remember her own career too… As she and Thomas grow ever closer, will she end up making Littlewood her home for good? Or will she set up her own PR company back in London…?

Eszter has to decide whether it is time to go back to Hungary… But what has she got to return to? She has no career to speak of, and their home is filled with painful memories of her beloved husband. But can a new job, a new home and a surprise new dog convince Eszter and Zoe to stay?

Louise wants to tell Alex how she feels but decides she needs to show him after pushing him away for so long. Will a grand gesture be enough to show him she won’t run away this time?

As the town of Littlewood comes together to help Huntley Manor, we’ll find out if kindness really does have the power to save the day….

Packed full of love and kindness, this heart-warming story will reaffirm your faith in humanity!

Review: Now it goes without saying I have been waiting for the final part of this story since I finished reading part three back in April. Although I must admit I was also worrying about saying goodbye to Littlewood and its residents.

I did think I would have devoured this a lot quicker than I did but I am going to blame work, my fitness sessions and the fact I was blooming scared to say goodbye to the gang.

The town and characters that Victoria has created instantly had an impact on me. Being kind is definitely something we should all do more of. I have started to make these changes in being kinder to myself although I am still very much a work in progress my mindset is changing for the better. I just wished I had a place like Brew, to head to whenever I needed that little pick me up and reminder that being kind to yourself and others really does make a difference in a world full of such sadness. The kindness board really has made me think and I loved how Victoria wove it into certain aspects of the story especially with Louise. I wont be adding any spoilers here but that note melted me. There are aspects to Louise and her wariness that I can see in me, and maybe I just need to up the kindness stakes in being kinder to myself and the rest will fall into place, when I least expect it.

In part four the story comes together and loose ends are tied up for the three main ladies Louise, Abbie and Eszter. They all have life-changing and affirming decisions and what I will say is their journey truly is beautiful. At the beginning of the Summer these ladies really didn’t know just how much they needed one another. I love that it ends in a way where Victoria could and I truly hope that she does return to Littlewood and its residents as everyone could do with a little bit of kindness in each and every day.

If you are looking for a read that will not only let you truly escape the trials and tribulations of everyday life, it will also have you asking yourself thought provoking on how you can be kinder in general and to yourself, then Random Acts of Kindness is definitely for you. You will not regret it, you will be sad to see it end but you will be left with tears of joy and genuine smiles.

This serial truly inspired me and I loved all of the leading ladies for different reasons. Sometimes you have to go with your gut instinct and sometimes you have to choose the wrong path to see the right one. I’m not done with kindness, I need more of this in my day to day. It’s not always easy with the rollercoaster that is life but if we all make a concious effort we can start little by little.

If there are any truly kind books that I should be adding to that ever growing TBR list feel free to let me know below. If you want to chat about this serial some more also do get in touch.

I already have Eva Woods How to be Happy – which I have heard good things about so I am hoping to bump that up my list. Very shortly I will be devouring Miranda Dickinson’s latest I was meant to buddy read that one but life got in the way. She is another author who lets me escape and who also inspires. I also have Derren Brown’s Happy which I am sure will be enlightening, but I am looking forward to what suggestions you give me.

international women’s day, Thursday Thoughts, update

International Women’s Day 2018

Today is international women’s day and I couldn’t let the day pass without mentioning every single beautiful lady out there. We are all beautiful in our individual ways if we were all the same the world would be a very different and in the most part a boring place.

I personally could feel better in myself but today I am aspiring to give myself the cheer of encouragement and motivation that I would to my girlies. I like to think I’m good at telling my friends don’t be stupid – you’re awesome or it will work out and I’ll be there to help in any way I can. It’s time for me to listen more to my awesome girls and to encourage myself.

I can I will. Go watch me…

I saw a comment mentioned by the lovely Isabella May today saying that she wants to see women stop apologising for eating cake – or anything else of a naughty nature for that matter. It’s true we do justify so much that we do. A little of what you like isn’t bad it’s all about moderation – don’t take away the goodness in the naughty by counting calories and instantly working out how many steps you need. It’s good to have a focus but not to the extent where you are upsetting yourself and depriving yourself of everything. Life is to be lived and we need to make it the best possible one we can for all those gorgeous ladies who came saw and conquered before us.

I’m thankful and grateful for all the inspirational women that have been and are still in my life. To speak of you all individually it would take me days but what I will say is each of you have touched my life in some way and I hope you know that.

The one person I will mention is my Nan June – you are forever missed in my life and each trip away I take I think of you. I loved being able to share my dolphin experience with you via DVD. I just wish you were still here even if you tried to fatten me up each week. Films and milk tray were such a beautiful time we shared and the films you showed me were fantastic. Since you have been gone there’s been a number of things I have seen and hope to see that you would have truly loved.

When I started penning this post I wasn’t sure what route I would take I could talk about many inspirational celeb ladies but I decided to look to those close to me.

Each of my friends and the ladies in my family are inspirational for different reasons and I adore each of you for what you bring to my life. Today maybe a national day to celebrate women but we should celebrate each other and our successes everyday.
