Beckham…

So much has been said about David Beckham over the years. Wrongly or rightly? But can we sit here and appreciate what a gifted footballer he was, watching back some of his epic moments in Beckham was simply breathtaking – I’m fully Spurs but as an England fan he was always magic to watch. Those runs, those corners, those free kicks and dare I say those goals.

Rewatching that Columbia goal gave me all the feels once again..

I’m not sure why now is the right time for Beckham the documentary but I binged the first 3 eps of the 4 quite quickly. I will also admit there were a lot of tears.

I do remember him being spellbinding to watch but I don’t remember all the little things. Thinking back I was a kid during his heyday granted watching that Columbia goal again still gives me goosebumps.

Looking at now and players like Dele and Richarlison suffering with their mental health and looking at just how bad the abuse was to David Beckham. Honestly I love the beautiful game but that level of abuse is never acceptable. It’s also made me question if the FA could do more to help footballers.

Whether you like or loathe Alex Ferguson – Beckham showcased what a power of strength his manager was for him in a time so heartbreaking.

Don’t just take my word for it watch Beckham streaming now on Netflix.

Harry Kane…

I’m sorry to my bookish followers but I have to talk about this legend today. I don’t want any negativity about trophies and stuff.

Harry Kane is now England and Tottenham Hotspur’s all time top goalscorer and my god that feels so amazing to say. I’m getting super emotional just thinking about it. I was lucky enough to be at the game when Harry got that record for Spurs. As he hadn’t made the England record during the World Cup I had hoped it would have been at Wembley but that wasn’t to be as my captain took that pen and claimed that title in Italy last night.

Harry Kane will forever be a role model for resilience, consistency and loyalty and I’ll forever love him for that. Last season he put us Spurs fans through the mill with whether he would stay. I was so proud to be at the first game he played after that and that roar for him will never get old. Singing ONE OF OUR OWN will forever give me goosebumps. I had tried to stop having favourites but have you ever watched Harry Kane in action.

It’s safe to say when the time comes I’m going to be simply heartbroken more than ever before. Teddy Sheringham has always been my favourite and he’s the reason I’m Spurs. But Harry Kane well and truly stole my heart. If there’s one man I need to meet it’s him, and I’ll be a mess straight after and it will be worth it’s weight in gold.

He’s one of our own, one of our own. Harry Kane is one of our own. Will never ever tire of singing that. Love the absolute bones of him.

Look at those names….Harry you are a legend…

I won’t hear any hate on his name…. Harry Kane is a record breaker and what a joy he is to watch.

Weekly Update #65

Happy Saturday all.

I’ve been a bit more organised this week and it’s helped. Granted when I have certain days off I really do lose what day it is. It’s been a mostly productive working week which is great and makes the days go by well. Following the last week being somewhat hectic it’s been a bit more chilled this week.

On Wednesday I attended the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the Champions League game against AC Milan. I won’t go into that too much as I have penned a post that tells all.

Received this beauty this week out in July..

So what’s been on the blog? It’s been another bumper week where I post every single day, see when I’m organised this happens. I even posted twice on Thursday but that was purely due to pent up energy and frustration. I needed an outlet and I’m very proud of that post I must say.

On Sunday I shared my review on Miranda Dickinson’s All My Love, a story that wholeheartedly stole my heart and you can read that review here.

On Monday I shared my March TBR I didn’t add too much and as it stands I haven’t rectified the lack of headphones. You can read that post here.

On Tuesday I shared a Top Ten Tuesday post that you can read here.

Wednesday was International Women’s Day and I had to mark that occasion in the only way I know how. You can read that post here.

On Thursday I ended up posting two posts as I was full of such pent up energy I needed to let those words out. So you firstly got a Throwback Thursday that you can read here. And then I shared my thoughts on The Beautiful Game that you can read here.

If you’re a regular here at Hayley Reviews you’ll know that Friday posts are a bit hit and miss. But this week I shared my thoughts on The Thursday Murder Club and you can read that here.

On my way again this time for a league game fingers crossed it’s a better one. The weather is so that’s a start.

I also have to just talk football a little bit more before I get back to my book and let you get back to your day. It’s outstanding the solidarity for Gary Linekar just proving how much football means. I feel like lots will tune in to see what happens for MOTD with no presenters and no Football Focus – would have missed that anyway as I’m on route to the Lane. Have a good weekend all.

The Beautiful Game….cuts like a knife.

I don’t usually post two posts in a day but I’ve had so much frustration in me that I’ve had to let it out. I dare say this won’t be the last time I pen a post like this. The beautiful game awww le sigh. Until last night The Champions League nights have been some of my most favourite times at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With it being a run in joke that you’ll see me on the TV. Last night I did not want to be on TV as there was simply nothing to shout about.

Being 1-0 down we needed to score 2 goals to go through or 1 to get into extra time. Yesterday was a horrible day with the weather going between snow and rain and it was probably my coldest game in a long while. To sit through 90 minutes and head home utterly dejected was horrible on so many levels.

There were plus points to yesterday but they did not involve the football. My Spurs ladies were in attendance well some of them and we had a drink, a sing song and some cake to celebrate the fabulous Shirley’s 60th birthday- Spurs didn’t ruin that for us but little did we know we wouldn’t have anything else to rave about. We were also made to feel like Twitter celebrities in the Spurs family world that was funny although I still have no clue who that guy actually was. Nice to meet you though shame about the result.

Me & Liz before the game.

I’ve loved Conte and having him back on the touch line was something else. However, something has fundamentally changed and when he subbed Kulu for Sanchez that felt like a defining moment like when we knew Nuno was a goner. I have no bad feeling to Romero he made a silly challenge early and then it cost us when he was red carded but if Conte had made that change earlier we wouldn’t have lost him. Although I’m saying that it means nothing now as our Champions League campaign is over.

After beating West Ham, Chelsea and City at home I thought our times were changing. But now it feels like the season is slipping away, getting knocked out of the FA Cup when it was there for the taking and crashing out of the Champions League without any fight. It’s safe to say I’m dejected and heartbroken. One things for certain I really want to meet Harry Kane before the season ends. I never thought there would be another player to take my Breathe away after Ted but by and large Kane has my heart.

For my sins I’ll be back there on Saturday I just hope the weather and the boys turn up as I cannot face that walk down the High Road feeling that empty.
